James Bond’s next actor is constantly being debated by fans, betting outlets and (less publicly) the film producers, with several names being banded about for the next incarnation.
One of those names? Outlander star Sam Heughan, though it sounds like even he doesn’t fancy his chances at taking on the iconic role, partly because he thinks bookies have him down at 500/1 chance.
Speaking to The Gentleman’s Journal, the actor admitted he doesn’t think he’s going to be the next Bond.

“I think the odds are a bit of a fallacy,” he said. “I mean, I’m obviously such a huge fan of the Bond movies. I actually just re-watched the most recent one again, No Time To Die. I mean, it would be an incredible job, wouldn’t it?”
Although he didn’t reveal if he’s auditioned to replace Daniel Craig, he did repeat a story about how he auditioned to play Bond in Casino Royale, which Daniel Craig obviously got.
He stated that he was in his 20s at the time and it looked like that was the age producers were looking for, before settling on Bond’s origin story being in his 30s.
He also referred to his Bond-esque role in Andy McNab’s SAS: Red Notice, stating: “If I’m honest, in a way I really enjoyed that because it’s like a more authentic or contemporary Bond — it’s straight from the horse’s mouth.
“And I spent so much time with Andy McNab, and the SAS and how they operate. And that, for me, was a good opportunity to live out those dreams of being in that spy world.”

Also in Bond world, Tom Holland revealed that he pitched a Bond origin story to the studio, but it didn’t seem like the powers-that-be are currently interested in that angle.
