The Biden administration is extending the federal mask mandate for another month.
The mandate for travel on airplanes, in airports, and on buses and rail systems will now continue through April 18th.
“During that time, CDC will work with government agencies to help inform a revised policy framework for when, and under what circumstances, masks should be required in the public transportation corridor,” an administration official told The Hill.
“This revised framework will be based on the COVID-19 community levels, risk of new variants, national data, and the latest science.”
The mandate allows TSA to fine passengers who refuse to comply. Under the rules, individuals who do not comply face a minimum fine of $500 with repeat offenders facing fines as high as $3,000.
