Actress Sydney Sweeney has an unexpected hobby. You might already know that the 24-year-old actress grew up practicing martial arts, but did you know she’s also a super talented mechanic? In fact, one of Sweeney’s passions is restoring classic cars all by herself.

“Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved so many different things, and I’ve wanted to be so many different people—I think that’s why I love acting,” she shared with W Magazine. “So being able to fall in love with cars, fall in love with MMA, and get to share that with people, and get to show girls you can do anything you want, is really special to me.”

It took Sweeney a full year to finish her current project—restoring a 1969 Ford Bronco, she explained on Instagram. She first purchased the car in February 2021, and has been fixing it up ever since.

“I wanted a Bronco so badly,” Sweeney told Cosmopolitan. “But I wanted to build one so that when I drove it and people said ‘cool car,’ I could be like ‘yeah, thanks’ and know I made it.”

“There were a bunch of bruises, stained hands, a broken finger, bolts that wouldn’t budge, and difficulty finding parts,” Sweeney added in her IG caption, “but I’m so proud of how it’s all come together!” She continued, “I just want to say to any young girl out there that’s interested in cars, prove ’em wrong, you can do anything you set your mind to.”
