OPPO has announced updated models for its mid-range Reno series of Android smartphones graced with charging and rear camera upgrades across the board. These specs are headlined by the new, MariSilicon X-enhanced, high-res zoom lens found in the 10 Pro+ flagship variant. Then again, the OEM was so busy with these new optics that it forgot about updating most of its internal specs.

The Reno series has turned 10, and makes the switch to an all-new build as well as ColorOS 13.1 out of the box in doing so. Their updated design integrates some of the most on-trend features OPPO can muster for it.

Even the vanilla Reno10 has the new “Window of Vision” camera hump, with substantially updated shooters behind it: a 32MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom and PDAF to go with a 64MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide-angle lens.

The 10 also graduates to faster 80W SuperVOOC charging in 2023. Nevertheless, it remains the least significant upgrade of its generation, even having the same display and SoC as its predecessor. That is probably why it starts at 2,499 yuan (~US$344) with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The Pro and Pro+, on the other hand, are slightly taller devices thanks to their new 6.74-inch 120Hz OLED display. It switches to the 1.5K resolution for the first time in Reno history, and has a max brightness of 1,400 nits. Similarly, it is kept on with 100W “super flash” charging in both Pro models.

Then again, while the 10 Pro+ is still a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1/MariSilicon X-powered smartphone, the  Reno10 Pro is also now the world’s first device to pair the same NPU with the Dimensity 8200 SoC. The combo is touted to enhance the 50MP main shooter that joins the same 32+8MP back-up lenses from the 10.

The same new “Sony flagship” main shooter also features in the 10 Pro+, as does the 8MP wide-angle camera – however, the third mini-cutout features the only genuinely square lens of the whole series. It houses a 64MP sensor rated for OIS and a 5x optical zoom.

The Reno10 Pro+ packs this new spec along with 16GB of RAM and at least 256GB of internal storage, as does the 10 Pro. They start at 3,499 yuan (~US$496) and 3,899 yuan (~US$533) respectively, and will hopefully join their 8-series predecessor on sites such as Amazon.in soon.
