DESPITE SOME SERIOUS speculation, we have some bad news for Swifties. Taylor Swift will not be appearing on big screens in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The pop star, currently in the European leg of her “Eras Tour,” has been the subject of the rumor mill recently regarding a potential role in the third Deadpool film (and the first set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). EW broke the news after IMAX released a new poster for the highly anticipated film, featuring Deadpool and Wolverine holding hands with friendship bracelets, reminiscent of those from Swift’s Eras tour, on their wrists.

Speculation about Swift’s involvement in the X-Men-adjacent franchise began back in October. As EW wrote:

Rumors went into overdrive last October when Deadpool and Wolverine themselves, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, were seen attending one of the Kansas City Chiefs NFL games. They were spotted with the film’s director, Shawn Levy, as well as Swift, who was there to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

It’s no secret that Swift has connections with Levy and Reynolds prior to their attendance at the Chiefs game. Levy played her father in the extended “All Too Well” music video and Swift’s has a very public close friendship with Reynolds’s wife, actress Blake Lively.

Levy and Reynolds have refrained from commenting much on the rumors. “I regret not shutting it down the first time,” Levy told EW in April. “So I’m going to default to my very true situation, which is, as much as we love each other, the fear of death is so intense in me regarding Ryan and how he desperately wants to avoid talking about all of these proliferating rumors.”

Despite Swift’s absence from the film, it will still feature a star-studded cast. Reynolds and Jackman have a natural chemistry, and will share the screen in a movie that will certainly feature lots of action and plenty of unexpected curveballs.

Then again, there’s also the possibility that this is a ruse. Remember how many times Andrew Garfield denied he was in Spider-Man: No Way Home throughout 2021?

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26.
