Nicola Coughlan has unfortunately been “struck down with Miss Rona,” as the Bridgerton actor wrote in a recent Instagram post. While her castmates from the popular Netflix and Shondaland series were dressed to the nines for the red carpet at the season-two premiere, Coughlan was home after testing positive for COVID earlier that day.
Since Bridgerton didn’t get the red-carpet treatment for the first season, which premiered in late 2020, during a high point of COVID-19 cases, Coughlan shared her disappointment at having to miss this premiere because of the virus…again. In her post she wrote, “So I’ve been struck down with Miss Rona and I’m missing our first premiere—heartbroken is an understatement but sending so much love to my gorgeous castmates who I hope have the best night.”
Even though the Derry Girls actor wasn’t able to attend the premiere for the Regency-era drama, she still glammed it up at home—with a bit of a twist. In her caption she made light of her situation and wrote, “Infectious virus but make it fashion,” while wearing a very fluffy ivory robe and matching hair towel wrap from Tekla. Comfort chic is the best way to describe the look brought to us by the actor, who plays Penelope Featherington in the series.
Coughlan also gave us a glimpse at what her premiere look would have been with a starburst diamond necklace and ring from Tasaki, chosen by her stylist Aimée Croysdill. The Irish actor even did her own makeup using Pat McGrath, which is not quite so surprising, considering she is the newest muse for Pat McGrath’s new Bridgerton collection.
