Mack Wilson is looking to turn the page as he begins his New England Patriots career.
Wilson is coming off a 2021 season with the Cleveland Browns that saw him record 26 tackles in 14 games played. He started six games, a number that was down a bit from his eight starts in 2020. He played his collegiate football at Alabama, a school that has become a pipeline for head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots’ combination of play style and head coach may be a better fit for Wilson after three seasons with the Browns.

“Obviously, things didn’t work out for me in Cleveland,” Wilson said during a Zoom call with reporters. “With me just coming along, being traded here, and being a part of this organization. And just how everything’s (run) here, and how the guys work here, and how it’s so well-structured and old-fashioned.
“I feel like, at this time in my career, it’s something that’ll really help me and really take my game to the next level. I’m happy, I’m super blessed to be a part of it and I just can’t wait to get things rolling.”
Wilson look to be a key part of a Patriots linebacker group that has undergone some change this offseason. The departure of Kyle Van Noy and the uncertainty of linebacker Dont’a Hightower are among the many intriguing storylines at the position heading into training camp.
