Joseph Baena Just Shared the Chest Workout He Uses to Get a ‘Great Pump’

Perhaps unsurprisingly for the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joseph Baena is no stranger to sharing updates from the gym to social media; his timeline is full of shots of him recreating some of his famous dad’s most iconic Mr. Olympia poses. And now Baena, who is currently in the process of pursuing his own acting career, has just shared his most recent chest day session to TikTok and Instagram, and invited his followers to attempt it themselves.

“Try out todays chest workout!” He wrote in the caption for the video, in which he demonstrates the exercise. “I had a great pump from this one and hope you do too.”

The full workout is as follows:

  • incline bench press (6 x 10, increasing weight every other set)
  • flat bench dumbbell press (4 sets of 10 to 12)
  • incline press machine (4 sets of 10 with a 5-rep drop set)
  • dumbbell flys (4 sets of 12)
  • bodyweight dips (4 sets to failure)

Baena’s love of fitness started in the water: he was a swimmer before later transitioning to bodybuilding. He frequently hits the weights with his dad—who he calls the “best training partner in the world”—at the bodybuilding mecca Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, and has learned a lot about training from Schwarzenegger.

“One of the big things I learned from Dad was not to have the ten-rep mentality,” Baena previously told Men’s Health. “It’s pushing yourself to the limits and going that extra mile, getting those extra reps and half reps till you’re basically dying.”
