Atlantic Division foes square off as the division-leading Florida Panthers (41-22-3) travel north to visit the fifth-place Montreal Canadiens (31-27-7), who are fighting for their playoff lives.

Florida comes into tonight’s matchup as hot as any team in the NHL, having won 12 of their last 15 and seven of their last eight games. Most recently, they put together a fine performance in defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs behind Sam Bennett’s two power-play goals.
Sam Reinhart leads the team in scoring with 32 goals, while Aleksander Barkov leads the team with 43 assists. The Panthers are one of a few select teams that have a top-nine scoring offense (7th) and defense (9th).
The Canadiens had won five in a row coming out of the All-Star break to climb back into playoff contention before losing three of their last four. They now sit 10th in the Eastern Conference but are only one point behind eighth-place Columbus. Montreal has a very young team, with their four leading point scorers ranging in age from 25 down to 20 years old. Cole Caufield leads the team with 32 goals, while Nick Suzuki’s 49 assists lead that category.
This is just the second of four matchups for the Panthers and Canadiens, with Montreal winning the first matchup 4-0. They’ll play again on March 30th and April 1st.
