Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav announced after the Asia Cup win that he will be donating his match fees from the tournament to the Indian armed forces and the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
“I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind,” the 35-year-old posted on ‘X’ after the high-voltage win.

In an interview given to India Today, Suryakumar explained that it is a minor contribution from his end, but it’s been done to extend his support to the cause in whichever way possible. He also held a brief discussion on the same with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) star led from the front right from the beginning of the tournament. He was the first to take a stand for the Indian Army after the high-octane group-stage clash against Pakistan on September 14. That irked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who lodged a formal complaint against the batter.
However, the 35-year-old has not struck form with the bat off late. In the entirety of Asia Cup, he could muster up only 72 runs with six one-digit scores in the tournament. Question marks are being raised over his individual performances, and he would want to silence those doubts when India tour Australia for five T20Is in October.
