The Garmin Vivoactive 5 smartwatch has received its first Public Beta Update, version 8.23. The new software brings several features to the wearables relating to activity tracking and sleep insights. Garmin notes that the update should be installed on eligible smartwatches automatically.
Garmin has launched the first public beta update, version 8.23, for the Vivoactive 5 smartwatch. The new GPS model launched earlier this year, with features including Body Battery energy monitoring and the Morning Report daily overview. The latest software brings three new features.
Firstly, the Vivoactive 5 can now be used to track additional activities for various team sports and racket sports, amongst others. Also added to the smartwatch with update v8.23 is a Nap glance, providing insights on your rest. Plus, a Workouts app has been added to the Activities list, making it easy to access Garmin’s library of pre-set exercise sessions. Also included is an update for Activity Icon Animations, version 1.05.
The new software will automatically be delivered to the wearables of members of the Public Beta program via Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM). The watch should check daily for the update, or you can manually check for version 8.23 by navigating to the Main menu> Settings> System> Software Update. Garmin requests that should a user encounter a bug, they log it in the appropriate section of the forum. You can join the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
