Dreamstar Lines has unveiled plans for its new luxury overnight train service, revealing a partnership with Designworks, a BMW Group Company. The project will retrofit passenger train cars to create interiors that blend comfort and elegance.
Dreamstar’s design renderings depict Art Deco-inspired environments intended to provide passengers with a soothing and enjoyable travel experience.
Joshua Dominic, CEO of Dreamstar Lines, explained that the aim was to offer a memorable medium-distance travel option that combines comfort and convenience. He compared the company’s basic tier and the first-class experience of international flights or Jet Blue’s Mint Suite. Dominic also highlighted the design of their sleeper cars, which are intended to promote restful sleep through circadian design principles.
Dreamstar Lines’ accommodations will include a lounge designed for socializing, eating, and drinking. The standard class will offer a comfort level equivalent to a first-class international airline flight. Some bedrooms can accommodate two people and come with a private bathroom and shower. The suite includes a queen bed, extra space, and a private bathroom and shower, while the family accommodation can sleep six, including two children, and comes with a private bathroom and shower.
Designworks, BMW’s innovation studio, has a long history of delivering innovative design solutions across the mobility landscape. The partnership with Dreamstar Lines is expected to draw on this experience to create a cutting-edge travel experience.
Dreamstar’s service aims to offer an alternative to the drawbacks of traditional travel methods, which include crowded transportation hubs, stopovers, aging vehicles, inconvenience, and minimal amenities. By traveling with Dreamstar, passengers can avoid these issues and spend less waking time traveling due to the sleep-friendly design of the accommodations.
Dreamstar intends its service to appeal to business travelers, families, tourists, and anyone else dissatisfied with existing travel options. The company has revealed that the initial route for the service will be between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
