Likewise, the Osmo Mobile 7P and Osmo Mobile 8 are exactly the same size at 190 x 95 x 46 mm when folded and 288 x 107 x 96 mm unfolded. On top of that, the Osmo Mobile 8 retains the 3,350 mAh (12.06 Wh) battery as the Osmo Mobile 7P, with a 10-hour official battery rating. However, DJI claims that the Osmo Mobile 8 is 2g heavier than the Osmo Mobile 7P at 370 g.
As far as we can tell, the other main difference between the pair is 360° horizontal panning support for the Osmo Mobile 8, which the Osmo Mobile 7P misses out on. DJI has added an NFC chip too as a way of simplifying the smartphone pairing process. The Osmo Mobile 8 retails for CNY 898 (~$125), a 28% increase on the Osmo Mobile 7P’s MSRP. Thus, we suspect the Osmo Mobile 8 will cost more than the $149 DJI initially charged for the Osmo Mobile 7P in the US. Unfortunately, there have only been rumours that DJI will release its new smartphone stabiliser globally in November.
