AirBaltic Launches Planies NFT Discord Club

Latvian airline airBaltic announced the launch of a dedicated Planies NFT Discord Club. Along with opening new ways of connecting with the NFT travel community, it also provides detailed insights into the program. 

AirBaltic Planies NFT Collection

Based on the Ethereum blockchain, The Planies NFT collection comprises 10,000 one-of-a-kind cartoon aircraft collectibles. Powered by airBaltic, airBaltic generated every Planie NFT from 180 unique traits, like wings, engines, a mouth, eyes, etc.

In addition to owning unique NFTs, Planies holders also enjoy various travel-related benefits of the airBaltic Club loyalty program. It includes loyalty points, vouchers, and other surprising privileges.

The airline’s CEO Martin Gauss, explains the airline’s vision: “We have seen a high interest in our initial NFTs, the airBaltic City Collection, and now we are taking the next step. By providing additional benefits like frequent flyer points or certain vouchers, we give added value to the collectors. It is the first step towards preparing the airBaltic Club loyalty program for crypto tokenization in the future.”

Among the global carriers, we know airBaltic as an airline of innovation. It is the first airline to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to purchase flight tickets. Later, airBaltic became the first airline globally to issue NFTs. So far, the airline has issued ten editions of the airBaltic City Collection.

Moreover, airBaltic is the first airline to offer NFTS. Even so, Emirates airline has also indicated an interest in NFTs. In fact, the airline even released a blockchain-based digital health passport, which was trialed during the peak Covid-19 period.
