Known as fashion’s biggest night out, the 2022 Met Gala lit social media ablaze with fits and failures from the biggest names in pop culture. With its theme of “Gilded Glamor and White Tie,” the event was a nod to the period of fashion called the “The Gilded Age” which ran from the 1870s to the early 1900s. Here are our favorite looks from the night.

  • Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz

Power couple Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz strayed from the theme, but still gave everything with their New York-inspired fits. Alicia donned a silver dress and black cape by Ralph Lauren that was emblazoned with the New York City skyline. Swizz came different while also representing New York with a Ralph Yankee bomber jacket and fitted hat.

  • Gunna

“Pushin P” rapper Gunna, definitely understood the assignment at the Met Gala (to which he has named a song).  He pulled up dapper in a black-clad suit and coat, which featured gold vines, and paired it with a “puppy purse” – a bedazzled purse in the shape of a dog. The dog, Pablo the Pup, who also has his own Instagram, was also fitted to the nines, wearing a black and white tuxedo which paired nicely with Gunna’s all-black ensemble.

  • Kid Cudi

Always known for his innovation not only in music but also in fashion, Kid Cudi pulled up to the Met Gala in a striking blue suit, paired with a cape and eye jewels.  The suit was designed by Nigo, the designer and music producer who also blessed Cudi with a feature on his recent album “I Know Nigo.”

  • Nicki Minaj

The Queen was giving everything in a black Burberry gown, paired with a leather baseball cap and leather leggings. Nicki said her favorite part of the look was the hat, which gave her a sporty but classy look. She remarked, “I’m obsessed with the hat. I didn’t want to do the look if I couldn’t do the hat, so he let me wear the hat!”  It was good to see Nicki back at the gala, which she avoided last year in protest of their Covid vaccination rule.

  • Lizzo

“It took 22,000 hours to make this coat, I’m just so happy to be in it, I feel like a piece of art”, Lizzo shared about her Thom Browne black and hand-embroidered gold coat, which complimented her black form-hugging gown. She paired the fit with a gold choker by Lorianne West and…a flute, which she played on the carpet for the reporters.
