How to get the Abacus and see enemy health bars in Sea of Stars

news image

Combat in Sea of Stars is a thrilling mix of traditional turn-based mechanics and creative new ideas that help the game feel both familiar and fresh at the same time. However, one thing missing out of the gate is the ability to see enemy health bars during battle, making it a bit challenging at times to know which attacks are best used on which foe. However, you can rectify this early in the game by finding an Abacus accessory, and we’ll tell you how below – though please note that the guide will mention some early-game spoilers, so continue at your own risk!

How to get the Abacus and see enemy health bars

Early in Sea of Stars, you’ll find yourself resting at a campfire when Garl hops out of the bushes and rejoins your party. Soon after you team back up with this lovable pal, you’ll encounter a save point next to a cave entrance directly to the north. Enter here and defeat the two enemies inside. Afterward, scale the wall in this room and wrap around to a chest that contains an Abacus.

Alternatively, you can buy an Abacus from a merchant at the Stonemason’s Outpost just a little further into the game, so if you miss the initial opportunity to get this extremely useful accessory, you won’t be completely out of luck.

However you manage to get your hands on an Abacus, it’s important to keep it equipped on one character at all times, as it will display the HP of all non-boss enemies. This will help you plan out your attacks significantly more so that you’re not wasting powerful abilities on foes with only a few HP left. Score!

How to beat Legion in Remnant 2

Legion boss in Remnant 2

The Yaesha biome in Remnant 2 has multiple challenging bosses, each providing its own unique mechanics and requirements for completion. Mother Mind can drop you to your death if you don’t know its patterns, while The Corrupter throws you off by using a conjured guardian to do its bidding. If you’ve been exploring this forest biome and have found yourself up against another strange foe called Legion, then you probably already know this fight is one of the most unusual of all. Looking at this boss for too long can be an extremely deadly affair, but that’s not going to stop you. Let’s dive into how to beat Legion.
How to beat Legion
Legion is encountered in The Twisted Chantry and sits atop a throne. At the beginning of the showdown, the boss will remain on this throne and should be considerably easier to deal with, allowing you a brief period to familiarize yourself with the fight’s most important mechanic: Madness. This status effect will slowly build up on you while looking at Legion, causing your screen to get blurry and your movement to slow to a crawl.

Eventually, Madness will also cause you to start taking damage, which can prove to be a battle-ending affair if you’re not careful. As such, your goal in this fight is to take breaks between shooting Legion and shooting the many adds that spawn constantly throughout the fight, which should give your Madness build-up time to dissipate.

What to do with the Thaen Seed in Remnant 2

A knight with a gun in a burning square.

There are a lot of unique quest items to find in Remnant 2 – including a disgusting severed hand – and the rewards for using them the correct way can be excellent. One of these strange items is the Thaen Seed, which you will find when opening the Ornate Lockbox from The Widow’s Court in Yaesha. This unusual seed has a variety of uses, but deciding on what option you’d like to choose will require you to consider what will benefit your build or gameplay experience most. We’ve compiled the ways you can use the Thaen Seed below to help you make this decision, so read on for everything you need to know.
How to use the Thaen Seed in Remnant 2
There are two ways to use the Thaen Seed, but you can only get one seed per playthrough of The Widow’s Court, so choose wisely. Here are your options.
Plant the Thaen Seed in Ward 13
There is a spot in Ward 13’s garden where you can plant the Thaen Seed, and this is the option we’d recommend overall. By planting the seed here, you’ll be able to return later and pick some fruit that offers you the ability to evade death once after eaten – a pretty impressive boon that could potentially save a run if you get into a bad situation. However, the fruit changes based on how long you wait before picking it, meaning the longer you wait to remove it from the tree, the more HP it can revive you with. There are three options we’re aware of, and we’ve listed them below.

Mature Thaen Fruit: Revives you with 30% of your max HP and makes you immune to status effects for 30 seconds.
Elder Thaen Fruit: Revives you with 40% of your max HP and makes you immune to status effects for 30 seconds.
Celestial Thaen Fruit: Revives you with 50% of your max HP and makes you immune to status effects for 30 seconds.
