The Academy has released a second statement following Will Smith and Chris Rock’s altercation during last night’s Oscars ceremony.

“The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show,” the new statement reads. “We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct, and California law.”

The Hollywood Reporter says the Academy will likely address this more fully during its next board of governors meeting. Initially, this is what the Academy had to say last night: “The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”

Additionally, Variety reports Chris will not be filing a police report against Will Smith, who walked on stage and seemingly slapped him after Chris made a poorly-received joke about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith—who has been open about her struggles with alopecia— starring in G.I. Jane 2.

The LAPD confirmed to Variety that Chris has declined to file a police report and released a full statement saying, “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”

Chris doesn’t appear to have given a personal statement on the incident as of yet, but Will apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees in his Oscars speech, saying, “I want to apologize to the Academy; I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not, I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me, it’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people.”
