Airlines for America (A4A) forecasts that U.S. airlines will transport more than 31 million passengers during the Thanksgiving holiday period, marking a record high.
Airlines for America (A4A) has announced projections indicating that U.S. airlines will carry over 31 million passengers during the Thanksgiving travel period from November 21 to December 1, 2024. This figure represents the highest number of passengers expected during this holiday timeframe.
On average, U.S. airlines are anticipated to transport approximately 2.8 million passengers daily throughout the period. The announcement comes as the airline industry prepares for one of the busiest travel seasons of the year. A4A has highlighted the efforts of aviation employees who are working to manage the anticipated surge in passenger numbers. The organization has also advised travelers to allow for extra time at airports due to expected high passenger volumes.
In the context of recent political developments, A4A has called on Congress to ensure that essential aviation workers are not affected by future government shutdowns. The organization emphasized the importance of legislative measures to secure the payment of air traffic controllers, TSA officers, and CBP agents during such events to maintain operational stability and safety.
This projection underscores the significant role of air travel in holiday travel and the preparations airlines are making to handle the increased passenger load efficiently.
