Bang & Olufsen was founded in Denmark in 1925. 100 years later, the manufacturer is now celebrating its anniversary with the Centennial Collection. This includes three new product variants, starting with the Beoplay H100 flagship headphones in “Century Brown”.
The combination of a silver aluminum housing and brown leather gives the manufacturer’s most expensive headphones a retro look, and the included leather carrying case for this model is also brown with blue accents. The features remain unchanged; according to B&O’s marketing, the headphones offer “breathtaking sound” and excellent noise cancellation, made possible by ten microphones.
The Beosound A9 in “Century Blue” combines a silver aluminum housing with metal feet and a dark blue fabric cover from Kvadrat. The round speaker, with a diameter of 70 centimeters, houses seven drivers, including a 200-millimeter woofer, as well as amplifiers with a total output of 1,500 watts. The sound can be automatically adjusted to suit the room.
The Beosound A5 in “Century Brown” is the slightly smaller speaker of the collection that can be used on the go thanks to a handle and an integrated battery with a runtime of twelve hours. With four drivers and an amplifier with an output of 280 watts, the speaker is also designed to deliver solid sound at home with a volume of up to 101 dB.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
