While we are regulars at Lululemon’s semi-secret “We made too much” section, that’s not technically a “sale,” per se; the brand is pretty forthright when it comes to the fact that it may have overestimated the demand for some of its bestselling products. And those price cuts usually are only reflected in a handful of styles.

Right now, though, Lululemon is doing something that is nearly unprecedented: The outfitter is running an actual summer sale. In a vacuum, it does make sense why the premium athleisure brand rarely holds sales—its high-quality workout gear is already coveted enough, so why bother to discount it in the first place?
