689,000 Passengers Traveled Via Nigerian Rail In Q2 2024, Generated N1.69 Billion – NBS

689,000 passengers traveled via rail in Q2 2024, a growth rate of +45.38% compared to the 474,117 in Q2 2023.

Volume of goods/cargos transported stood at 143,759 tons, up by 152.49 percent, compared to 56,936 tons in Q2 2023.

In terms of revenue, N1.69b was received from passengers, while N537.36m was collected from goods/cargo conveyed.

A total of 689,263 passengers travelled via Nigerian rail system between April and June 2024 (Q2), according to the latest rail transportation data obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) .

This represents a growth rate of +45.38 percent, compared to the 474,117 passengers that traveled through the Nigerian rail during the corresponding period in 2023.

During the quarter under review, NBS data shows that the volume of goods/cargos transported through rail stood at 143,759 tons, up by 152.49 percent, compared to 56,936 tons recorded in the corresponding period.

In terms of revenue generation, N1.69 billion was received from passengers during Q2 2024, which is an increase of 53.64 percent compared to the N1.10 billion recorded in the same quarter of the previous year.

Similarly, N537.36 million was collected from goods/cargo conveyed via rail in Q2 2024, up by 206.68% from N175.22 million received in Q2 2023.
